United States- Seeking Yet Another Messiah

 A Correspondent writes: THERE was a touch of anti-drama in the way in which Charu Mazumdar was arrested or, as some believe, got himself arrested. It was almost as if, at the end of five years of rollicking good time, the numb, dull sensation of surfeit has overcome him. This quinquennium has been one of the goriest chapters of the history of revolutiou-mon- gering in this country: a minor peasant rising in Naxalbari on to similar happenings in Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, from annihilation of class enemies in West Bengal villages to romantic romping of hillocks in Kerala, from urban guerilla ventures to merciless internecine warfare, much blood has been spilled, umpteen dogmas have been aired and practised, talents have been recruited and laid to waste; enormous courage has been displayed by several thousands of young men and women, there has been no dearth of individual valour; month after lugubrious month, what a magnificent display of fearlessness and the spirit of total sacrifice on the part of so many.
