Indo-Yugoslav Trade-Preparing for Multilateralism

again failed to resolve the payments problems between India and Yugoslavia. Some of the issues involved are no doubt complex but agreement on them has no doubt been made difficult due to the wearing out of the enthusiasm that marked the initial phases of develop- ment of tri-lateral economic relations among Egypt, India and Yugoslavia. While the main problems in respect of trade between India and Egypt have much to do with the changed political climate in Egypt, In do-Yugoslav trade relations have run into difficulties because of Yugoslavia's disillusionment with bilateralism. The two countries have already agreed to discontinue bilateral rupee trade arrangements and to switch to the multilateral trade and payments system from the beginning of 1973, involving settlement of outstanding claims in free foreign exchange.
