Readymade Garments-Exports to What End


A Correspondent writes: THE assurance held out by the Textile Commissioner that help would be given for increasing the export of readymade garments may be just one more instance of the drive to export at any cost. It may incidentally help the industry to utilise its surplus capacity. Yet there are no indications, either in our export performance, or in the existing structure of the industry, or in the market situation abroad, that point to our suitability to export these items on a large scale.
