Bangla Desh and India

October 9, 1971 IIFT THE Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has made fairly satisfactory progress during its seven years. From its activities it appears that the IIFT is well set to achieve the objectives before it. At present, its major programmes and activities relate to creating export management personnel, research into problems and functional areas of foreign trade, making overseas market surveys, commodity studies, area surveys, country surveys and export potential surveys of states. The Institute appears to have made some progress towards self-reliance; nearly two-thirds of its expenditure was met by its income earned through conducting training programmes and export market surveys. Out of its total expenditure of Rs 31.4 lakhs, Rs 12.3 lakhs were financed by government grants.
