orders for electrical goods (meters, transformers) have begun to decline. And the oil engine industry, overexpanded by the zealous supply of credit from banks and state governments, has had a recession for a year. In the first six months to June 1971, too, the rise in the industrial production index has slowed down to 1.5 to 2 per cent over the previous year.
