Shipping Corporations Expansion

A CONTRACT has been signed in July 1971 by the Shipping Corporation of India with the USSR for the purchase of four cargo liners from the USSR. Ships were included for the first time in the Indo-Soviet Trade Agree-ment signed between the two coun-tries in December 1970. In March this year, the Shipping Corporation signed another contract with Sudoimport for the purchase of three tankers, of 16,300 DWT each, for the transportation of petroleum products on the Indian coast. The contract for cargo liners for about Rs 18 crores, is the second contract for ships between India and USSR.
