The complete stoppage for the time being of the use of soyabean oil by the vanaspati industry has not led to any noticeable increase in the offtake of groundnut oil. It appears that, in view of the declining trend in prices, vanaspati manufacturers have preferred running down their stocks to making fresh purchases. Only the needy units have been in the market to meet their urgent requirements. With stockists anxious to dispose of their goods because of comfortable supply and timely monsoon, offerings in groundnut oil in the major producing centres have been in excess of offtake.
