A Limping Sub-Sector
A Limping Sub-Sector Hansavivek EAST ANGLIA PLASTICS (INDlA) complains that pressure is being brought on Government to permit import of DOP, although indigenous production is adequate for the country's demand. With some reduction in price for bulk supplies of 2-ethyl hexanol, there has been a slight improvement in the market for DOP. Government officially recognised last July the actual installed capacity of 5,000 tonnes in the company's plasticiser project, and has given licence for import of raw materials worth Rs 47 lakhs against less than Rs 7 lakhs in the year ended March 1970 when the company was able to utilise only about half the capacity. Indigenous producers of 2- ethyl hexanol have also assured steady supply of about 140 tonnes per month for a year. Although prospects for the plasticiser division are "bright", those for CAMG are "definitely gloomy". Increase in customs duty on cellulose acetate flakes
