to the Government and be thankful to it for not resorting to drastic measures like the quota system, price control and rationing. New Delhi could not have been more generous to the industry. It might be too much to expect the industry to treat the poor consumer of cloth kindly; but the 600-odd members of the textile family should not misbehave. The cotton supply position is not comfortable but it is certainly not so very serious as is made out by the industry. It should be possible to tide over the current shortage resulting mainly from the delay in normal arrivals in certain areas if the more affluent mills showed a measure of concern for the weaker units.
