New crop arrivalshave been quite normal, though somewhat delayed in certain tracts. The standing committee of the Cotton Advisory Board which met on November 4 had estimated the 1970-71 crop at a minimum of 60 lakh bales. Since then nothing serious has happened to the crop. Even the reported damage to the Vidarbha crop has been attributed to October rains. Is one to believe that all the members of the Board were ill- informed about the condition of the crop in different States?
