Hansavivek PHILIPS INDIA is soon entering the TV field and, given the requisite licence, it will be in a position to produce TV receivers in about a year without involving much foreign exchange. The new factory at Pimpri has been already planned to accommodate this new activity. The cost of a 19" TV set will be around Rs 1,500, excluding excise. At a preview of a demonstration of closed circuit colour television in Bombay recently, J Lusink chairman and managing director of the company mentioned the radio industry, where the index of cost prices has moved downwards; its example should also be followed by the TV industry which should set its sights high in technology, ensuring for instance that a TV receiver made in India has in it all the latest developments in design and technology in full justice to Indian con-, sumer.
