economic indicators, such as industrial production, corporate earnings, food supply position and balance of payments position, are now pointing distinctly upward. Unfortunately, the otherwise? improving economic prospect has been befogged by -political uncertainties which have aggravated social tensions and industrial unrest. Many uncertainties lie ahead, and the one which is of major concern to the stock market in the immediate future is that relating to the fiscal policy that the Government will pursue in Order to implement its radical economic programme. The impression is gaining ground that in order to hasten the pace of democratic socialism, Indira Gandhi will wield firmly the fiscal weapon sharpened by T T Krishnamachari. The stock market will not be at peace us long as the fiscal sword continues to bang over it.
