No Election for Chogyal

Congress politics has been the re- emergance of Kamaraj as a force of some consequence. While other mem- bers of the Syndicate have been publicly seen to be foundiring on their own home-grounds, by forcing C Subra- maniams resignation as president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, Kamaraj has demonstrated his control over the Congress organisation in Tamil Nadu. Some of his recent pubic utterances indicate that he is looking to the next general election in Tamil Nadu. His attempt to give a north-south twist to the faction-fight in the party makes sense more as an attempt to revive anti-north feeling in Tamil Nadu and direct it against DMK which has in recent months been shown to be a faithful camp follower of the Pr me Minister than as an attempt to rally support against Indira Gandhi.
