A continuous casting plant will convert the additional 3 lakh tonnes of molten steel into blooms. The rolling mills already have sufficient capacity to absorb this additional production. Import licences for most units of imported plant have been received. According to the Chairman, Biren Mooker- jce. "despite the delay in its implementation and the consequent increase in project costs, and despite the devaluation of the rupee intervening, it is still a remarkably cheap project in terms of rupees per ingot tonne of extra capacity".
