gated areas and 30 and 80 per cent in unirrigated areas if farmers practise improved methods of cultivation. Encouraged by its success, the Federation has evolved a new scheme which envisages active co-operation between mills and cotton growers for raising production through the application of improved methods of cultivation. Re- ports are that quite a few mills have already offered to assume responsibility for about 1.50 lakh acres in the main cotton growing areas in the new season. Mills' active participation in cotton cultivation can yield good results over a period of time.
