Forgetting the Political Chatter

Forgetting the Political Chatter Romesh Thapar LET us turn away from the puzzling procedures of Governor Dharma Vira in Bengal which have finished off what little reputation he had, the naive pranks of Minister Dinesh Singh in absenting himself whenever the South African representative begins UNCTAD-ing, the resignation tactics of the mercurial Charan Singh in Uttar Pradesh which keep both friend and foe guessing, the double-talk in private and public of Annadurai on language and related matters, the apparent unconcern of Indira Gandhi to all the goings-on, the fundamental re-thinking which now engulfs both communist and socialist cadres, the trials and tribulations of managers who continue as the forgotten factors in a complex situation, and other such common chatter. Let us turn away from it all and for once focus on some of the new challenges which are developing and which we don't seem too anxious to highlight.
