THE Karmahom Conference which regulates the liner shipping trade bet-ween India and Western Europe has unilaterally announced its decision to raise the export cargo rates from next year This move is detrimental to our trade for it would either push down the realised value of exports or make them more uncompetitive. More than that, it is a slap in the face of Gov-ernment which had earlier warned the Conference not to increase the rates further
