November 2, 1968 ASSAM Scope for Thaw QUIET prevails in Assam politics today after virtual acceptance by the APHLC of the Centre's reorganisation plan. The twentieth session of the party congress decided at Tura, between October 14 and 15, to "give a fair trial" to the plan, The communique said: "This session has received comprehensive reports of meetings held in this connection in the various parts of the hill areas. These reports convey that the consensus in the hill areas is that the people, while expressing deep disappointment at the failure of the Government of India to meet their aspirations in full, and reasserting that a fully separate State would be the best solution, nevertheless feel that the plan may be given a fair trial.
