But the Corporation should not blindly follow the market, it should also seek to influence it at times. At a time when speculators are known to be unscrupulously exploiting the situation created by disruption of groundnut oil supplies following the recent floods, the Corporation could have earned a good name if it had released very substantial quantities of its soyabean oil through fair price shops for direct consumption. The sale of soyabean oil need not be confined only to the vanas- pati industry. Such open market releases would have had a significant impact on the market and restrained speculative tendencies which seem to have assumed rather serious proportions recently.
