 supplies have been on the increase with the progress of the marketing season, offtake has been poor due to lack of fresh export business. Shipment of about 5,000 tonnes of oil which should have taken place by mid-April will now be completed by the middle of this month. This should provide considerable relief to shippers. But the pressure of supplies will continue to be fert by the market unless substantial fresh export business is put through. With the UK and Continental countries well supplied with cheaper Brazilian oil, Russia and East Europe provide the only important outlet for Indian castor oil. The price trend in castor will depend largely on the nature and volume of export business in castor oil.
