declaimed against the present agitation. Meiyappan now argues that entertainment should not be made a scapegoat for political agitations. This realisation dawned upon him only when he was faced with an agitation against his film. He never took up this attitude (nor do his co-producers in South do so even today) when the student movement against Hindi films started in the South. Now Meiyappan has decided to insist on showing his film in Bombay theatres to, as he says, make an experiment of "a study in civic psychology". He does not propose to conduct a comparable experiment in the South itself by backing the release of Hindi films and seeking their free exhibition. Should not Mciyappan's experiment in mass psychology start, like charity, at home?
