Towards a Meaningful Wages Policy

Any rational wage policy for the industrial sector has to be based on labour productivity in the agricultural sector. So long as labour productivity in agriculture remains low or stagnant, there can be no scope for raising real wages in the industrial sector irrespective of trends in labour productivity in industry.
