Decontrol Has Not Worked THE VERY FIRST major move to lift statutory price control on commodities of mass consumer interest, for which there has been much clamour among business circles, is beginning to cause second thoughts. After partial decontrol of steel prices and marketing, which was effected two years ago in the light of the Raj Committee's recommendations, price and distribution control on cement was abolished from January 1, 1966. At about the same time the offer of a price and marketing holiday was made to fertiliser manufacturers.
