APPROXIMATELY one-sixth (and possibly a little more) of the total electorate in India's fourth elections were persons born between 1941 and 1945. The memories of this section of the electorate will have registered only the post-Independence events in the country. Eligible to vote for the first time, this group of about 40 million has probably played an important role in deciding the outcome of the recent elections
