Not the Arduous Path
Uncharitable critics of the Government often say that it is incapable of taking any decisions. A gracious lady had made the carping criticism that Lalbahadur had been a prisoner of indecision. Not so her niece, however. Even The Times has given her a chit of good conduct that she does not have Nehru's weakness — indecision. A review of the Government's policies during the last one year however completely belies this belief. In quite a number of crucial matters, the Government has been following certain policies with tenacity and consistence. Government is quite decided on both self-sufficiency and foreign aid, quite firm about the path it has chosen of economic development through ever increasing dependence on foreign aid. This view is contradicted only by Ministerial speeches but is completely supported by all facts.
