We strongly condemn the unprecedented communal violence at the end of January 2015, in Tuneri, Vellur and Kodanjeri villages, Nadapuram in Kozhikode, Kerala, in which more than a hundred Muslim families and homes were singled out, attacked, and crores worth of property destroyed.

to portray himself as a good Hindu alongwith being a communist.
With real issues taking a back seat (the convention was unable to come up with any concrete programme or agenda) and the apparent purpose defeated, the likes of M S Yadav get an opportunity to flex their muscles which they did with abandon. The former chief minister left no one in doubt about his stature and went as far as admonishing the 3,000-odd left cadres (comprising district secretaries and party functionaries of mainly the CPI and the CPM) for not showing enough grit in fighting communalism. He also tried giving a general slant to the communal problem and even expressed his desire to take in the BJP if it so chooses to distance itself from the more rabid tendencies.
