Intercontinental Meeting for Humanity and against Neoliberalism, held in the Lacandon rain forest in July 1996? The answer to this question approaches the problems of the world from a broader perspective than north- south relations; it crosses the frontiers of the political as well as the revolutionary as it is commonly understood. The Mayas did not issue an invitation only to a meeting of natives or to defend natives. They did not issue an invitation to a Native American meeting or Latin American meeting, nor to a tricontinental meeting to fight against imperialism, nor to a new international against capitalism. Why not?
