April 5, 1986 GOA 'I Will Remain a Labourer' Jyotsna Kamal THE language controversy in Goa erupted into a series of violent clashes late last year between the pro-Konkani and the pro- Marathi supporters, including the Tourism Minister and the GPCC President. Events took a dramatic turn when seven Congress(I) members come out in open support of the pro-Konkani group. After several representations to the Congress high command and long deliberations there appears to be no reconciliation between the two groups. The regional language issue has been made political capital of by all the groups concerned. Whatever the outcome of the language controversy, the voice of the people no doubt will remain hushed.
