many ways : the hamper crop due to better seeds, a generous monsoon, and greater use of fertilisers; the absence of the usual rush of consumers to buy their entire year's wheat requirements as a security against inflation; the absence, too, of any pressing demand by other states for the wheat. Indeed, today some UP wheat is brought to border markets in Haryana to get a better price. By this time last year, about 80,000 tonnes of Haryana wheat had been sent out while this year no exports have yet taken place. The farmers are anxious to unload their produce following their unhappy experience in the later months of 1975-76, when the stocks proved such a liability.
