This preliminary study of the structure of industries in the region reveals that the newly-developed industries are characterised by strong backward and forward linkages. However, these linkages have not been as yet exploited to foster further industrial growth in the region and the existing industries depend heavily on sources outside the region, especially in Bombay, for their input requirements.
