Anthropology or Marxist Strait-jacket?
Akos Ostor ASHOK RUDRA's irate review of "Culture and Power" (EPW, June 7, 1986, pp 1012-3) calls for a reply because of its deliberate incomprehension and systematic misreprescn tation of the book. If I do not recognise, from his tirade, the book I wrote, it is for good reason: Rudra is not interested in discussion, his aim is to discredit.
