Archives (1966-1998)
EPW is pleased to offer to its readers digitised pages from the journal from before 1999.
The link below will take users to the search page for the archives prior to 1999.
From 1 January, the pages for the volumes from 1989-1998 are available. Gradually, working backwards pages of all issues from 1966 onwards will be accessible by 31 March 2009.
With copyright permission we should have all issues from 1949 to 1965 of Economic Weekly as well on the site from 1 April onwards.
Please note, access to these archives is restricted to print/web subscribers of EPW
A few points:
- These archives are different from the archives of EPW articles published from 1999 onwards in that the pages for the years before 1999 have been scanned, OCRed and corrected. The files are PDF files
- Logging into the site below will take users to a simple search page, where they can search for articles by author or title or year or volume number (please use roman numerals for searching by volume).
- For the present users will not be able to search by keywords or use an advance search facility for the archives on this page. There are no abstracts either for the articles. We are working on preparing the database for all articles of EPW from 1966-1998 and for EW from 1949 to 1966. We hope to eventually integrate the pre and post 1999 archives into one and users will be able to access all pages through one page and with all advanced search features.
- The archives here will eventually be of 120,000 pages and have gone through many rounds of testing. However, errors may remain due to a number of reasons. Whenever readers notice an error, we would be grateful if you could let us know with all the details. Please write to us at archives@epw.in
- These archives have no connection with the EPW pages on JStor. While the latter are available only to members of Jstor, the archives digitised by EPW here are available to all subscribers of EPW
Subscribers please log in below to reach the search page for the pre-1999 archives
(The archives are now being tested and visitors before 1 January 2009 may receive incomplete results.)
